The #1 Way To Stay In Touch With Your Tribe,
The #2 Things You’ll Need to Get Started NOW
And The #3 Most Important Tips On What To Share

Having your own e-zine or electronic newsletter is one of the most creative and effective tools available to you as a spiritual practitioner.

This one addition to your business will allow you to develop your voice, build your business and be of service to your spiritual tribe or community.

Here are the 2 things you’ll need to get started NOW…

#1 ~ A List
Nobody likes SPAM, so make sure you get people’s permission before you add them to your list and give them a way to “opt out” if they decide not to stay on your list for any reason. (I use Aweber for this, click HERE to visit their site and set up your own account.)

#2 ~ A Voice
A newsletter is a great way to develop your voice and position yourself as an expert in your field. When you share helpful tips and information on a regular basis, people get to know, like and trust you. That makes it easier for them to take the next step with you ~ i.e. invest in your spiritual service ~ when they’re ready.

The 3 Most Important Tips On
What To Share In Your E-zine

1st ~ A Little Something About YOU
In every issue, share a little something about yourself. People want to know who you are and what you’re up to, so include a brief section in every e-zine to let people know what’s going on in your personal or professional life.

2nd ~ A Feature Article
This is where you get to deliver quality content to people in your spiritual tribe. Give your readers valuable information on topics they want to know more about.

Offer them great tips and insights, share your wisdom and success strategies that they can incorporate into their own lives. This is what will keep people coming back for more!

3rd ~ An Invitation To Take The Next Step With You
When someone signs on to receive your e-zine, they’re literally raising their hand to say they want to learn more about who you are, what you do and what you have to offer. So always be sure to give your readers an opportunity to take the next step with you by giving them a call to action.

This next step might be a visit to your blog, a free strategy session with you, or an invitation to attend one of your upcoming events or purchase one of your products or services. Whatever that next step is, make sure it’s clear to your readers and easy to follow through with.

Bottom Line: As a spiritual entrepreneur, your e-zine allows you to reach out and stay in touch with the people in your spiritual tribe. By communicating regularly, you build lasting relationships with your readers ~ even if they’re on the other side of the globe.

How To Develop Your Spiritual Voice FAST ~ A Bardic Challenge February 16, 2011

The world is shifting. So much so that even people who are barely conscious of their spiritual lives can feel the energy growing and changing around them now. For some this change is exhilarating, and for others it’s a little scary.

I truly believe that we are on the verge of a shift in consciousness that is akin to a global spiritual awakening. An awakening that calls all spiritual practitioners ~ people just like you and me ~ to jump into action.

Why YOUR Voice Matters
Now more than ever, the world needs your voice. No one speaks the Universal Truths in exactly the same way you do. And there are people in the world who will resonate with your message and respond to your voice like no other.

In antiquity, important messages were carefully wrapped in poetic verses and delivered throughout the land by Bards. But modern day Bards need only a keyboard and an Internet connection to deliver their messages across the globe.

Even if you’re not a writer, you have a voice and a gift to share. And believe me when I tell you, the world is ready to receive it!

That’s why this is the right time for you to stop playing small make a commitment to develop your unique voice and use it as a valuable tool to help usher in this new age of spiritual awakening.

If you feel this call to action resonating within you, if you feel this voice rising up in you now, here is a challenge to help you develop your bardic voice and get crystal clear on your transformative message FAST.

The (Not So) Ancient Art of Bardic Blogging
When I first started my business, one of my friends challenged me to write in my blog every single day for 30 days straight. At the time, it was a bold move for me. It was a little intimidating putting myself out there in a public forum and bearing my heart and soul to my readers.
It felt kind of like a first date… “What if they don’t like me?” (What? You thought you were the only one who worried about things like that?)

But it was a great experience. Writing daily was cathartic for me. It helped me develop my voice by testing out different writing tools, techniques and tones.

It made me not only a better writer, but a better communicator. It helped me get really clear on my message and delivery, and it established an honest, sincere connection between me and my spiritual tribe.

Your Bardic Challenge
So here’s my challenge to you…
If you already have a blog, make the commitment to write in it every day for an entire moon cycle (about 1 month). Don’t wait for inspiration to strike. Make the decision to write and DO IT. Not everything you write will be award-winning material, but I promise you’ll LOVE what you learn about yourself in the process!

If you don’t have your own blog up yet, what are you waiting for? There are tons of free blog sites out there. (When I first started I used http://www.wordpress.com.) Setting up your own blog is super-simple and it’s a great way to introduce yourself to your spiritual tribe and let your voice be heard.

Helpful tip: To get people to read your blog and become familiar with your spiritual message, promote your blog on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. You can even post excerpts on your facebook page and link it right back to your blog to drum up some traffic. And don’t forget to send the link to your friends and ask them to promote it too.

PS ~ I’d love to hear how this challenge is going for you, so I invite you to share your stories with me on my blog at http://www.WakeUpGoddess.com.

3 “MUST HAVES” for Your Spiritual Workshop Flyer January 27, 2011

Spiritual workshop flyers can be an effective way to market and fill your events if the following are true…

• You use flyers in combination with other marketing materials and strategies.

• You display them in a place that has good foot traffic (provided that those feet are attached to your ideal workshop guests).

• Your flyers ROCK!

Here are a couple of MUST HAVE tips to make sure YOUR spiritual workshop flyers ROCK…

MUST HAVE #1: An Engaging Workshop Description With Benefits-Rich Bullet Points

If you get stuck when trying to write your marketing copy, start with a list of 3 to 5 benefits that people will receive when they attend your spiritual workshop.

Feature these as bullet points in your flyer and write the rest of your copy around them. Remember to stay BENEFITS FOCUSED!

MUST HAVE #2: Always, Always, Always Include a Photo of Yourself

This is a personal touch that you cannot overlook. Your photo gives potential guests a sense of connection to you, a feeling of familiarity and comfort.

Place a clear headshot of yourself in the upper left or right corner of the flyer. Make sure you look friendly and approachable in the photo ~ no crossed arms or serious glances. Invite people in with your SMILE!

MUST HAVE #3: Don’t Forget Your Call To Action

Always remember to tell people HOW to register for your workshop. Ideally, you want people to RSVP and pay in advance. Not only will this give you an indication of the number of guests to expect, it also commits people to the workshop so you’ll have fewer “no shows.”

You must make this process easy for your guests. Never list multiple numbers or websites for registration. Your call to action should be direct, simple and prominently located on your flyer.

Your 2011 Spiritual Workshop Idea Generator January 22, 2011

The best way to generate ideas for spiritual workshops is to draw from your personal experience, knowledge and wisdom.

Even if you think that there’s nothing remarkable about your life, I have yet to meet any person in this world who did not have something to teach.

So just imagine for a minute that you could look at your own experiences, knowledge and wisdom from an outside perspective, how remarkable would they seem then?

PictureIdea Generator Exercise:
Take out a piece of paper and draw two lines down the page vertically so that the page is divided into 3 equal columns.

First… In the far left column:
Write all of your most memorable or meaningful experiences. Whether positive or negative, write down all of the experiences that have shaped your life and made you who you are today.

Next… In the center column:
Write down all the lessons you learned and the gifts you’ve received as a result of each experience.

Some of these lessons may have been hard earned. But just think how valuable that lesson has been and how the knowledge of it has helped you along your path.

Finally… In the far right column:
Write how you think this lesson, this wellspring of wisdom, could be of service to others.

In other words, ask yourself one of these twoquestions:

1. “Is there something about this experience that others could learn from so that they wouldn’t have to suffer the same pain I did?”
2. “Is there something about this experience that others could learn from so that they could experience the same joy I have?”

Once you’ve completed this simple little exercise you should begin to see how your own experience, knowledge and wisdom can lead to the ideal workshop topic that you are perfectly suited to teach!

Your Next Step:
Pick 1 topic and start to run with it!

How to Write Compelling Workshop Descriptions January 19, 2011

For lots of spiritual practitioners, writing marketing copy can be a downright painful process. You know that you can deliver a great workshop, but how do you put that in words to create marketing copy that will actually get people in the door?

Relax, there’s a simple formula you can use to write compelling workshop descriptions effortlessly. And the best news is that once you’ve created your description using this guide, you can repurpose it for everything from fliers to press releases to promote your event.

Step #1: Brainstorm Workshop Benefits

Your workshops should always be focused on the benefits your guests will receive. So before you do anything else, sit down and brainstorm a list of all the benefits you’ll deliver at your workshop.

Step #2: Create a List of High Impact
Bullet-Points

From your list of benefits, pull out the top 3 to 5 points. You may want to combine a few or reword them so that they’re really impactful. But these 3 to 5 points will be the basis around which you write all of your workshop copy!

Step #3: Write a Description Around Your Bullet-Points

Once you’ve got your main points, simply write some supporting copy around them. Play up the workshop benefits and give a feel for what the workshop will include without repeating your bullet point. And always include a call to action that tells people how to take that next step (i.e. sign up for your workshop).

Step #4 ~ Write Your Workshop Title LAST

Workshop titles are like headlines. They’ve got to grab people’s attention and make them want to read more. Like your bullet points, your workshop title should be benefits-rich.

Step #5 ~ Repurpose It!

Once you’re got your compelling workshop description written, you’ve got the basis for all of you marketing copy. With just a few tweaks, you can use this description as web copy, for fliers, in press releases and on social media. Just plug in the description and Voilà!

Why Spiritual Workshops Work January 19, 2011

Live workshops are a great way for spiritual practitioners to share their gifts with the world. Why? Because they’re easy (trust me), they’re inexpensive to host, and they’re a heck of a lot of fun!

Another plus… you’ll meet the coolest people ever. Your workshop guests may become your clients or your friends, or they may leave your workshop with one big “a-ha” moment that changes their lives forever.

Here are 3 reasons I LOVE hosting workshops…

#1: Spiritual workshops raise awareness about what you do.

The biggest challenge most spiritual practitioners face is that they simply don’t know how to get the word out about their services. It’s challenging and often intimidating to apply traditional marketing approaches to esoteric, transformational services such as tarot, Reiki, theta and numerology.

And let’s face it, there’s no way an ad in a local metaphysical magazine or a blurb on facebook will ever convey the breadth and depth of what you do. But these marketing tools can be used to invite people to learn more about your services at a low-cost (i.e. low-risk) workshop.

And that opens the door for people to take the next step with you.

# 2: Live events give people a taste of who you are.

My private clients tell me all the time, “When I met you at your workshop I knew I wanted to work with you.” And that’s a powerful testimonial that workshops work for both you and the people you’re meant to serve through your spiritual gifts.

By hosting a live workshop or event you’re introducing yourself to people and inviting them to get to know you. Plus, you’re establishing yourself as an expert or authority that your clients can trust before they say “yes” to working with you 1-on-1.

#3: Free or low-cost workshops are a way to be of service to your community.

Many of the people who come to your workshops may never decide to work with you 1-on-1. But by offering them solid spiritual advice and tools they can use in their lives right away, you’re fulfilling your spiritual obligation to be of service to the community in a way that is genuine and authentic with no strings attached!

And trust me, that’s a very good feeling for you and your audience to walk away with!

So if you’d like to learn more about how to host your own spiritual workshops, you owe it to yourself ~ and to the people you are meant to be of service to ~ to check out my upcoming teleseminar series “Spiritual Workshop Secrets.” Click here to learn more http://www.wakeupgoddess.com/spiritual-workshops.html.

Location, Location, Location ~ 3 Questions You MUST Ask Before Booking Your Spiritual Workshop Venue January 19, 2011

Posted by Michele in Miscellaneous Musings.

Once you’ve got a great workshop idea, the next step is to find the right venue.

Since not all venues are not created equal, here are 3 questions every spiritual practitioner MUST ask before booking your spiritual workshop location.

Question #1: Do they have an established clientele and, if so, who are they?

Ideally, you want to book your workshop in a venue with an established clientele that matches the profile of your perfect workshop guest. The reasons are twofold:

First, you want to hold your event in a place that you feel comfortable in and that energetically matches your workshop topic.

Second, from a practical perspective, you want to draw from their existing clientele to fill your workshop, which leads us to our second question…

Question #2: Will they help to promote your event?
This is a big one, especially when you’re just getting started. Always ask how you can work with the venue to promote your event to their clients. Here are a few ideas you can discuss with them…
Do they have a regular newsletter or e-zine and, if so, can you contribute an article or advertisement about your event?
Can you place fliers up about your event?
Will they include your event in any paid advertising or calendar listings?

Question #3: What is the financial and logistical arrangement?
This may seem basic, but believe it or not when I started hosting spiritual events I was so excited to present my workshops that I actually forgot to ask this question.

In my experience, most established venues work on a percentage split with the presenter. In exchange for their portion of the proceeds they provide some event promotion, staff to collect workshop fees and basic set-up and tear-down of the room.
But ~ and this is important ~ don’t assume anything! Always check in advance to determine what the financial arrangement is and who is responsible for what. This is the best way to avoid confusion and get your workshop off to a great start.

3 Tips To Totally ROCK Your Spiritual Workshop Guests January 6, 2011

Tried and true techniques to engage your audience & leave them wanting more!

As a spiritual practitioner, one of the best ways I know to let your light shine is to offer spiritual workshops in your community. Here are 3 of my favorite tips to help you host workshops that ROCK!

Tip #1: Set the Scene for Magic

I always include “magical boosters” in my workshops by placing items around the room that inspire a sense of wonder and inspiration.

I include things like candles and incense as well as stones, pretty altar cloths and even statuary that match the theme of my workshop.

Tip #2: Ask Your Guests to Share

Always allow time in your workshop for your guests to share their experiences. After each activity, whether it’s a meditation, journaling exercise or group activity, I always ask for volunteers to share their experiences.

The reason is twofold: First, people love to share their stories with others and to create connections in this way. Second, other attendees (including me!) can learn from the stories these guests share.

Tip #3: Sprinkle Your Workshop with Fun Little Surprises

I love to surprise and delight my guests with little gifts. These gifts are often inexpensive, but meaningful and have included things like sea shells, starfish, small stones, crystals and the like.

Often we’ll charge or empower the items with our energy and intention during the workshop, or I’ll charge them in advance and let my guests know that they’re leaving with a talisman meant to remind them of all they’ve learned during our time together.

A Recipe for Raising Your Personal Energy July 17, 2010

Have you been neglecting your Body, Mind or Spirit lately? Is your life so bland it makes rice cakes sound exciting?

If so, it’s time to spice it up a little and start incorporating the ingredients for your best life into the mix so you can turn up the heat on your personal power.

Start by rating your energy on a scale from 1 to 10.

If your energy is…

9-10 ~ Life is Delicious!
You’re living your best spiritual life today! Your channels are open and you’re receiving the full abundance of love and joy that you deserve. Congratulations for taking such good care of yourself and for believing that life truly is delicious!

7-8 ~ You’re Cookin’ with Fire!
Things are pretty good for you right now, and you deserve it. You have the time and energy to work on higher matters of the soul. And with the addition of just one or two positive ingredients today, you’re cookin’ with fire baby!

5-6 ~ You Need to Sweeten Things Up!
The status quo is not good enough, and you’re better than the way you’re living now. Maybe nothing is “wrong,” but that doesn’t mean that things are “right” either. Work your recipe for success by adding a few positive ingredients into your life today to sweeten things up a little.

3-4 ~ Mix In Something Positive!
You’re in a serious rut and need to work your way out of it. Mix in as many positive ingredients as you can to raise your energy and lift your spirits right away ~ no excuses and no procrastination allowed!

1-2 ~ Small Measures Go A Long Way!
Your spirit needs immediate rescue! Start with your physical needs and make sure they’re met. When you’re physically cared for it’s easier to tend to the needs of your spirit and add a little flavor to your life, even if it’s just a teaspoon at at time.

Create Your Recipe for
Raising Your Own Personal Energy:

Make a list of the top 10 ingredients that make up your best life. These are life’s simple pleasures… Things that bring you joy, and that you can do to raise your energy when you’re feeling a little low.

Think of this as stocking your spiritual pantry with things you can use to feed your soul. Then, whenever you feel your personal energy start to slip, start mixing these ingredients together until you start to savor life again.

Top 10 Ingredients for MY Most Fulfilling Life:
1. Take a nap
2. Listen to music I love
3. Wear clothes that make me feel sexy
4. Walk on the beach
5. Spend time with a friend
6. Make love to my husband (TMI? Sorry.)
7. Meditate & work with my Spirit Guides
8. Write in my journal
9. Dance!
10. Play with my dogs

For each ingredient you add to your recipe, you should feel your vibrational energy increase. The lower you fall on the personal energy scale, the more ingredients you’ll want to combine to create the yummiest life possible for yourself!

Taking My Own Advice May 16, 2010

You’ve heard me say it before… balance is an ongoing process. And all of us find ourselves a little out of kilter every now and then.

Lately, I’ve definitely been riding the rapids! I’ve overbooked myself and I haven’t been prioritizing well. And as I crowd more and more “stuff” into my day, the less time I have to honor myself by spending time on the truly important things ~ things like hot baths and long walks and watching goofy TV shows with my teenage son and making dinner with my husband.

But hosting Thursday’s Reclaiming Your Life: Body, Mind & Spirit teleseminar reminded me of just how easy it is to slide into that dark place ~ the place where you’re running ragged reacting to your world instead of flowing through it like a gentle river.

Putting together the content for this call also gave me the opportunity to pull out some of my favorite tools and to start using them again in my own life. And, not surprisingly, I’m already seeing results! (BTW, these are the same tools I share with you in the free teleseminar and the ones we’ll explore more deeply in the 3-week virtual retreat that’s coming up soon!)

Maybe the thing I love most about being a teacher is that you can always learn from your own lessons. And that’s exactly what I’m doing now ~ taking my own advice.

If you haven’t heard the call recording from my Reclaiming Your Life: Body, Mind & Spirit teleseminar, you can listen or download it for FREE until this Monday, May 17th. Just click here to register.
