Living A Spirit Guided Life November 2, 2009

You Are Never Alone
From the time you’re born you have a powerful spiritual support system offering you guidance and wisdom throughout life’s journey. These loving beings are known as Spirit Guides.
Your Guides know your true potential in life and their greatest desire is to help you achieve it. By learning to tap into their endless stream of loving energy you’re able live your life with more joy and purpose than ever before.
When you learn how to connect with your Guides, and to truly listen to their advice and guidance, you’re blessed with a deep sense of security in this world that stems from knowing that you are never alone and you are always supported.
Who Are Your Spirit Guides?
Spirit Guides come in many shapes and sizes and are connected to you in myriad ways. Some Guides travel with you for your entire lifetime, or many lifetimes, while others may only step in help you through a specific time or challenging situation and then move on.
Sometimes you’re acquainted with your Guides through past life connections, and now these old friends walk with you in spirit as you move through the challenges and triumphs of this new lifetime. Still others may be relatives or ancestors who’ve crossed into spirit and now watch over you lovingly, advising and protecting you from the other side of the veil.
Then there are the Guides who connect with you because you share a common interest, such as a love of painting or writing, that they were deeply connected to during their own earthly experience. These Guides can be very inspirational and motivating as they help you further your shared craft.
And finally, some Spirit Guides have never been in physical form at all. The goal of these esoteric beings is to help you understand the deeper spiritual nature of your soul and your connection to the Divine. These Guides help you recognize and fulfill your spiritual purpose on earth and keep gently pushing you back on track when you stray too far from the course.
Getting In Touch – Communicating with Your Spirit Guides
If you really want to connect with your Spirit Guides, the best place to start is with your own spirit.
If your energy is low due to depression, stress or fatigue, or you’re simply distracted by life’s demands, you could be blocking the messages Spirit is trying to send. When this happens you may feel cut off from your Guides. Or, the messages you receive may be indecipherable ~ more like static or “white noise” than true spiritual guidance.
Fortunately, crafty as they are, your Guides will work to help you break through these blocks by sending you signs and even employing emissaries ~ such as pets, loved ones, wild animals and even strangers ~ to bring you the messages you most need.
But you can help make their job easier by taking the time to love and care for yourself. When you do, you reconnect with your Higher Self and raise your personal vibration to become closer to the Universal Spirit. And when your vibration is higher, communicating with Spirit Guides becomes much easier.
Raising Your Vibration Through Love
In our world, the highest vibration is one we call Love. So any time you open your heart to love ~ love of a spouse, love of a friend, love of yourself (and that’s a big one!) ~ you come closer to the Divine guidance that is your birthright.
When you open yourself up to loving others and being loved, you raise your vibration and open the channels for spiritual guidance to pour into your life. So the bottom line is this: whenever you feel unworthy or unable to connect with your Guides, simply open your heart to the emotion of love and true guidance will follow.
Blessed be!

Tipping the Scales: A New Moon & A New Outlook June 22, 2009

Okay, so I gained 10 pounds. What can I say? I went on vacation and ate a few (dozen) shortbread cookies. It happens to the best of us.
When I came home I kept my vacation mentality when it came to food – which is, obviously, “Bring it on!” Only I’m no longer walking 5 miles a day taking in the sights and sounds of a strange and exciting city.
Instead, I’m logging hours on my couch and exercising my remote control finger (House marathon this weekend, who could resist?).
So this morning, as I stood naked and horrified on the scale (oh, don’t judge me, you’ve been there too), I decided it was time to take my power back.
Looking at the calendar I realized it was a New Moon. “Perfect,” I thought, I have just the tool to shift the scale back in my favor.
You see, about a year ago a developed something I call the “Moon Affirmation Program.” This is a 30-day program designed to help align your personal goals with the phases of the moon, thereby catapulting your desires into reality by harnessing the forces of nature to assist you.
It’s a great program and one that helped me lose close to 30 pounds several months ago. The great thing about it is that it can be done again and again, allowing you to work on both short- and long-term goals with one program.
So I’m dusting it off and putting it back to work for me now. I’ll post regular updates on my progress here, so check back to see how I’m doing. At the end of this 30-day period, I’ll give you an opportunity to purchase this program for yourself at a one-time discounted rate.
Trust me, if it can work for me with my sugar addiction and genetic disposition, it can work for you too. So here’s to manifesting the life we want, the life we truly deserve to live!

Feeling My Way Through May 26, 2009

I’m fortunate enough to be sitting in front of a picture window overlooking a green park lined with tall, swaying shade trees. The cool wind is blowing softly through the open windows, fingering the flame of a candle lit at my side. Voices from the park, strange and appealing to my ear, waft up to my little flat and blend with the wind to create their own unique melody. The candle flame flickers in unison.
It’s mid-day here in London and soon I’m off to explore the city. But for now I’m alone and still, living fully in this one beautiful moment. Somewhere in the distance children are laughing.
I’ve been overseas for a week now, and I’ve seen so much – great works of art, royal palaces and famous monuments. But today I just want to feel this city, and not rush through it like a hurried tourist.
After my explorations today, I’ll meet Erin for dinner and a good bottle of wine. Then we’re taking in a show at the historic Globe theatre. My heart is filled with love and gratitude for this moment and for this experience.
An Irish Blessing May 24, 2009

Today is my last full day in Ireland and I can honestly say that I’m sad to have to leave the beautiful place tomorrow afternoon. In my experience Ireland is full of the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever met. Everyone I’ve come into contact with (even the random stranger walking down the street) is helpful, jovial and sweet in the most genuine and authentic way.
When the Irish speak to you they have a habit of holding your elbow with their hands and looking into your eyes in a way that’s neither threatneing nor overt, but instead communicates a sense of personal connection I’ve rarely experienced in casual conversation. Their manner is easy and fun-loving, and I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed my brief stay in this lovely place.
It has been a welcome reprieve from an otherwise busy and somewhat stressful trip abroad. I head back to the hectic (although awe inspiring) streets of London tomorrow and I’ve decided to take a few days to get my bearings when I return – no museums, no deadlines – just wondering about the city to get the lay of the land and to see how it feels when I’m not so busy doing.
Wish me luck on the tube!
London Calling May 20, 2009

Well I’m finally here – London at last! This trip seemed so far away for so long that it’s hard to believe I’m really here, all the way across the pond. I’m with my friend Erin, who’s teaching a class abroad and who also celebrated her 30th birthday yesterday. We’re getting lots of fabulous girl time together while we’re getting acclimated to this new cultural climate.
Our little flat is quite cute, with big windows that open up to a park across the street in West Highbury, just outside of London proper. This morning we took a two mile walk in the crisp English weather (sunny thankfully) and then enjoyed a spot of tea together before braving the tube.
Ah the tube… Thus far, she’s proven a worthy opponent. My initiation into the belly of the beast was yesterday, when a late plane and a ridiculously long line through customs forced me to forgo the comfort of the university provided shuttle and tackle the tube. Fortunately Erin, being the best kind of friend, sent her students along with their London hosts and waited for me. And may the Gods bless her for this!
The tube itself wasn’t bad, but it took us 20 minutes to figure out what kind of ticket we needed and still couldn’t get the electronic ticket machines at the station to cooperate with us once we did. Then we had to juggle my bags (thankfully she sent hers along on the shuttle) as the train kept filling with an impossible number of people – all sitting, standing and pressing into each other in ways that violated my American personal space comfort zone just a little.
This morning, in a rush to get Erin to work on time, we again contemplated which kind of rail pass I needed before again being outsmarted by the ticket machine. Crying uncle, I finally stood in line to talk to a human being, who upsold me more zones than I really need. Although I don’t fully understand this yet, apparently there are 6 zones and the more zones you travel, the more you pay. There are also a number of lines that cross and switch in a complicated matrix of commuter confusion.
Undaunted and ready to go, I purchased my ticket inserted it into the electronic thingy in order to enter the station. I was in such a rush that I promptly bounced off of the barrier that was supposed to open and welcome me into the underground. I pushed my ticket through 3 more times and still nothing. I finally flagged down someone who worked at the station and he let me pass. Whew.
What I didn’t realize was that you also have to insert your ticket when you exit at your end station as well. So again, I inserted my ticket bounced off the barrier. Befuddled, I flagged down another tube employee and asked with an anguished expression why my ticket wasn’t working. She informed me I’d inserted it upside down. Oh well, it’s not easy being a world traveler. I’m sure that Ill get the hang of it, and probably even have it mastered in about 3 weeks – just in time to buy ticket back to the airport.

We are such proud parents! We just received news that our Basset hound, Reba, has earned a cameo appearance the upcoming film “Destiny and the Bulldozers.” The only catch – we have to train he to sit, stay and come on command. For those of you who’ve never met Reba, let’s just say we’ve got our work cut out for us. She’s darn cute, but we still haven’t been able to train her to stay off the couch…wish us luck!
